From the day of surgery until the 3rd day after surgery

We apply cold compresses and passive range of motion (PROM) exercises, as this is the best prevention against muscle atrophy, as well as laser therapy, which counteracts edema, stimulates wound healing, and reduces pain, and magnetotherapy, which stimulates blood circulation and has anti-fever and anti-edema effects.
After the 3rd day after surgery

We apply cold compresses, TENS – transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (analgesic effect), passive range of motion exercises (performed by the animal physiotherapist and by the Owners), and massage. We continue to use laser therapy and magnetotherapy.
From day 4 to 2 weeks after surgery
In addition to the previously used treatments, we slowly introduce active exercises and an assisted standing position, as well as gradual assisted walking – if the patient assumes a standing position and it does not cause pain, it is possible to walk with them on a short leash, under the constant supervision of the Owner.
From 3 to 8 weeks after surgery
We continue to use TENS (analgesic effect), massage, and passive and active exercises. We also introduce Cavaletti obstacles and walking on an underwater treadmill. The underwater treadmill gives the best therapeutic effect if used 3 times a week. A minimum of 10 treatments is required to notice a therapeutic effect.
