Endoscopy is a type of examination that uses thin scopes – rigid or flexible – with a camera at the end, and often also a working channel for a surgical instrument. Thanks to this, hundreds of our patients have already avoided surgical procedures in the presence of a foreign body in the stomach. When the capabilities of older imaging techniques such as USG or RTG reach their limits, that is when we begin endoscopic diagnostics. The procedures performed include: rhinoscopy, esophagoscopy, gastroscopy, gastroduodenoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, vaginoscopy, rectoscopy, colonoscopy.
A special type of endoscopy is laparoscopy – it allows for viewing all abdominal organs with minimal tissue trauma. Furthermore, using laparoscopic techniques, certain surgical procedures can be performed: e.g., sterilizations, cryptorchid castrations, cholecystectomy, taking samples for histopathological examination, and others.
